Information about Pre-Filing Credit Counseling and Post-Filing Debtor Education
Individuals who plan to file bankruptcy must get credit counseling from a government-approved organization within six months before they file. They must also complete a Personal Financial Management course after they file in order to obtain their bankruptcy discharge.
